Guatemala - Candelaria 2025 Coffee
At the northern edge of Guatemala, Huehuetenango sits high in the Cuchumatanes mountains, where coffee grows at elevations between 5,000 and 6,500 feet. Here, warm, dry winds drift in from Mexico’s Tehuantepec plain, shielding farms from frost and creating a climate where coffee can flourish at altitudes that would otherwise be too extreme. Remote and rugged, many farms rely on their own micro-mills to process their harvests, while rivers weaving through the valleys make the washed process possible.
The Candelaria 2025 community lot represents the collaborative spirit of this region. Smallholder farmers come together to produce a blend that is consistent, reliable, and deeply expressive of place. Each season, their work highlights the hallmarks of Huehuetenango: vibrant fruit character, layered sweetness, and a clean, structured finish.
These flavors are born of slow-ripening cherries at high altitude. Classified as Strictly Hard Bean (SHB), the coffee develops dense, nutrient-rich seeds with exceptional sweetness.
Guatemala’s coffee legacy is centuries old, built on rich volcanic soils, diverse microclimates, and generations of producer knowledge. With Huehuetenango at its heart, the country has become one of the world’s most celebrated coffee origins. This lot is a true expression of that heritage, balancing tradition, meticulous processing, and the natural gifts of a remarkable landscape.
